Dubrovnik
The walled city on the Adriatic.
Dubrovnik’s marble streets and city walls make it one of the most beautiful old towns in Europe, with the oysters of Ston and the vineyards of Pelješac close by.
- DBVDubrovnik
Enclosed by medieval walls above the sea, Dubrovnik’s old town is a maze of limestone lanes, terraces and harbor views. It is the gateway to southern Dalmatia, and its restaurants make the most of the fish and shellfish brought in each morning.
A short drive up the coast, the town of Ston has farmed oysters and mussels in its bay for centuries, and the Pelješac peninsula is home to some of Croatia’s most celebrated red wines. South of the city, the green Konavle valley is dotted with family farms and wineries.
It is a city best enjoyed early in the morning or late in the evening, when the walls glow and the long dinners begin.
Once the cruise crowds leave in the evening, the old town is yours. That's when to find a table.
Say it like a local.
A few words of Croatian go a long way at the table in Dubrovnik.
- Dobar dan Say it: DOH-bar dahn good day
- Hvala Say it: HVAH-lah thank you
- Živjeli! Say it: ZHEE-vyeh-lee cheers
- Dobar tek! Say it: DOH-bar tek enjoy your meal
